Shiwasu is a collection of originally composed Japanese Neo Classical instrumental music pieces with the exotic taste of Japan composed and produced by Akiko Hori.
Akiko Hori’s music could be best described as healing and relaxing music within a Modern Classical genre. The exotic instruments of Japan; Koto 20, Shakuhachi, Kabuki, Noh Percussion, Shamisen combined with Steinway Piano and a full Orchestra range brings listeners a new and unique sound seldom heard outside of Japan.

These are so beautiful. I love the mix of Japanese musical instruments with modern-day instruments. Honest … I had tears in my eyes, listening to some of these. For me, they are very emotional. A “good” emotional 🙂💖

It’s amazing how she’s grown – in the short time that she’s introduced the Japanese instruments into her compositions…the orchestral blend has become so effortless and natural – the pianos still creates the body for the piece and the rest of the instruments interweave so seamlessly and surface up front so naturally that there is no conscious blending of two musical cultures. She’s touched on something musically magical.

Really meshing the traditional classical runs with the haunting flute and traditional Japanese music, (kabuki, for lack of a better word)…
It’s like one traditional sound trying to meet and join another, and in the end, creating something really new and wonderful!
